Who's Behind Our Legacy Matters?

John Bentham

Husband to his best friend and wife Valerie, and dad to the three beautiful girls below, John is looking for work in his life's passion, Marketing & Communications. He's currently a consultant, having just completed a PR project for a local insurance agency.

John's love of computers and general gadgetry began a long time ago when, as a kid, he wired his bedroom to turn the lights on, when the door opened. He was further encouraged with a tour of duty in the US Navy as a Submariner, and then as a software engineer in the telecommunications and semiconductor industries. He also has a very strong creative bent, which is why marketing is such a good fit for him - it combines the best of both worlds.

His many roles include part-time computer geek (see free software above), home network and system admin., old radio enthusiast and gardener. He also plays volleyball with Autumn on Monday nights.

Valerie Bentham

Valerie has had the honor of being married to the incredible man above for 23 years. She adores her husband, admires his integrity, is grateful for his unfailing faith in God and love of his country. She tolerates his sarcasm. (Hey, nobody's perfect!)

She has the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom, home schooling each of her children, since the beginning of their education.

Her interests include scrapbooking, reading, walking, bargain shopping, organizing, and making a house a home. She loves to serve others and enjoys volunteering weekly with her girls at Hill Country Community Ministries.

One of her deepest desires is to share her heart with a child or children that need a home, who would not have one otherwise. Behind all that Valerie does, is the purpose to glorify the Savior who gave her eternal life.

Rachel Bentham

To most accurately describe Rachel, you would have to say that she thrives on life and enjoys every moment of it! Pinning it down to one particular interest wouldn't be possible. She loves research of any kind, especially controversial and complex subjects... and her flair of the creative comes out in the form of card and jewelry-making, as well as photography, in addition to her newest hobby, knitting.

If you did force her to describe one passion she holds above all others, she would say people. This is why God provided her with a perfect job at the local Family Christian Bookstore. Her love for books, music, and of course a great movie, give her the ultimate "party" every time she clocks in.

She is looking forward to a wonderful future that God has planned for her, starting new Bibles studies, working on growing her business "Uniquely Yours, by Rachel" and of course finding new hobbies to dabble in.

She is very thankful for all the lessons her Saviour has taught her over the last few years, learning to completely lean on Him instead of her own ability to handle a situation...let's just say, this is one thing she is still working on!

Alyssa Bentham

Alyssa is a history buff and is particularly enamored with the 1950's. She has a strong desire for spiritual and moral revival in America, and is in the process of creating a home-based business that combines these two passions, implemented through her love of writing. A selection of her poetry can be found published on SkyWriting.net.

She resides in the cozy little cottage with her parents, two wonderful sisters (that'll be $10.00, guys), two gerbils, a hamster, and three guinea pigs.

Autumn Bentham

Autumn has an acute sense of "justice," especially when our government gets more involved in our lives than it should! Someday, after she completes her high school education, she hopes to serve her country in a full-time capacity.

As a thrill seeker, Autumn loves Six Flags, wishing she could go there all the time! She began a new activity last year, playing volleyball with dad on Monday nights. She also enjoys spending time with the family's guinea pigs, gerbils, and hamster. Currently, Autumn is working on painting her plaster Christmas village that she started a few years ago. Now, only 30 more pieces to go!

If you would like to catch up what's going on with the Benthams these days, read our most recent 2009/2010 newsletter. If some of the things we mention in this year's letter don't quite make sense, perhaps the 2008 newsletter will clear a few things up. And if you're still lost, read the 2007 newsletter which explains how we got here.
